Another band born out of the darkness of lockdown, Clay Soldiers prove that something good has come out of 2020.

Regularly packing battalions of followers into notable venues up and down the country, Clay soldiers leave no fan behind. The grunge stoner rock band from London really blossomed in the lockdown of 2020 and went on to have over 5000 on their debut single “Ghost” within the first 12 months, a budding start to a promising future.

After a string of notable successes overseas, the band have their sights firmly set on the upcoming release of their new EP “Life after Death”. One outlet that has helped them on their way is Pipebomb NYC, awarding them “Artist of the Month” for April 2021, going on to acknowledge their hard work on their previous single. This same hard work and drive is evident from their latest work.

The three piece, consisting of Leon, Stu and Pablo have all got their own interests, adding a whole new level of interest to the band. Leon has a brilliant love for food, Stu has picked up an interest in photography and video editing as well as Pablo being bilingual. A multi-talented band like Clay Soldiers have the capability to do everything they need to really make an impact in the market by utilising their in house strengths.

A taste of their new sonic symphony comes to us in the form of “Drive it home”. The reverberating vocals create a fitting contrast to the blunt distortion of the guitar sound. Not just creating a unique sound mix, but marching to the beat of their own drum. They create a sound reminiscent of the glamour of 80’s rock reaching for the dark, grungy heights of Alice in Chains. With that said, it’s incredibly refreshing to find a band that doesn't fit nicely into a single category, instead combining elements of both to transcend genre in more ways than one. With bands such as Blink-182 and Black Sabbath being famous for pioneering genres, it's easy to see that this band will continue to grow their fan base and one day be the next generation's inspiration.

In the midst of everything that's happened the last two years, this band has been one of few to come out the other side of covid stronger, better and ready to take on the world. I cannot wait to hear the EP in July and will definitely be a band to keep an eye on over the coming year.
