Twin Mannequin's seconds single will leave your head spinning.

Twin mannequin (self proclaimed Dark Souls of trans people) releases a new single, ATTAGIRL. Following the release of "Body Problems" with its dark lyrics and even darker imagery, they continue these themes of body image issues, gender dysphoria. These themes are evident in the lyrics "suit up, suit up, you fucking character" - being somebody you're not perhaps. However the song seems to go a lot deeper. ATTAGIRL feels much more current in Twin Mannequin's evolving sound and artistry.

The lack of conventional structure reminds me of the hit song "Happier than ever" by Billie Eilish. The constant changing sound (which ranges from just changing instrumentation to time signature) consistently reflects the changing narrative of the song. The song starts with very acoustic, sentimental introduction and almost in a dream-like state before reaching the heavier section; two sides of the same coin. This is reflected in the music video, visual artistry seems to be a key factor in helping them convey their stories.

The technical ability really stands out especially when considered the song in its entirety instead of the individual sections. To keep a consistency throughout and not have the song sound broken or jarring is in its completion, thoroughly impressive and a testament to Twin Mannequin’s talent.

The overall song is a rollercoaster of whirlwind emotions that cascades into the black and white of the piano solo that closes the song.
