Molly Payton spellbinding songs that scream nostalgia.

From break up ballads to feel good anthems, Payton is dropping song after song on the build up to her latest EP.

From opening for Bebadoobee to The Amazons, Molly Payton is bringing a breath of fresh air to the indie rock scene. This London-based kiwi singer has been mesmerising her fans with songs such as ‘Do It All The Same’ and her album ‘Slack’. And with her follow up EP, ‘Compromise’, due to be released later this month, I cannot wait to hear the rest of the music this artist has to offer.

With a sound that sits in the same ballpark as Wolf Alice and Wet Leg, Payton creates the kind of anthems that you just want to scream into your hairbrush in your room. The ethereal reverb heaven of the song fills any room creating a sound that invelopes you entirely. Each and every song would not be out of place in a cult classic romcom, over the moment two fall in love or share a first kiss. The magic instils in these songs completely change the contrast of the world as if placing a filter over your vision.

Her visuals match this nostalgic feel too. Her music video for ‘Handle' would not seem out of place amongst iconic artists such as Fleetwood Mac or Tiffany, with this oversaturated static field dream-like image. The sun flared video for ‘Do It All The Same’ gives me bad ass Tonya Harding vibes which fits so well with the breakup ballad. Her whole image gives me the classic 70s and 80s vibe that is so gorgeous alongside her ballads.

Countdown the days until her next EP as any new music from this indie ballad performer will resonate with all that listen.
